The Mission

To design a website for a completely new brand, we used their existing branding and assets to design an eCommerce store focused on golf, with the idea of "Made by golfers, for golfers", with the main focus being on their training equipment and training aids which are the bread and butter of the company. We worked in collaboration with another agency that provided the assets used in the website which required a lot of team collaboration and coordination from both parties involved.

Conceptualization

First things first, a site map was created to establish the structure of the website, once this was set in stone, we moved onto deciding the proper content and section for each page, which in turn, was used to create rough sketches of how the pages should look like.

Low Fidelity

Using the sketches and the site map, a low fidelity wireframe was created. This was used to show the stakeholders the idea and vision that we had for their new eCommerce website.

Style Guide

As previously mentioned, assets were provided from another agency, some of which included the branding. We used these guidelines to create a simple style guide that we could use to design a aesthetically pelasing and functional design.

Implementation

Next step was to use the provided guidelines to finish the high fidelity wireframes. The brand's color palette was very vibrant and if used excessively, it could end up looking very busy. Having siad that, we decided to only use color if necessary and for accent pieces or call outs. That way we could create a clean design while respecting the brand.

Why Indeed

Throughout the website we decided to incorporate the humorous, self-deprecating tone of the brand, be it in images or text, to show that the brand doesn't take itself too seriously. At the end of the day, Golf is a sport and it's meant to be fun.

Hit Like Henninger

The owner of the company is a talented golfer with a lot of connections in the sport. One of which is Brian Henninger, he is involved in a lot of instructional videos for WhyGolf so we decided to use him as a brand ambassador. What better way to show credibility, reliability, and trustworthiness than to use a professional athlete to promote your brand.

Don't Leave Just Yet...

Following eCommerce good practices, we decided to add an exit-intent popup with a discount code. That way we incite the user to buy products with their newly acquired discount. This popup also serves as a way to generate more email subscribers and reduce cart abandonment.

Clarity Is Always Helpful

An issue I've found in a lot of websites that offer bundles, is that oftentimes it's hard to find what the bundle includes. In other times, it's just a list with no real information on what's what, therefore we decided to create a component that would display every possible item included in the bundles with their own image and description. That way, the user can easily navigate and find what's included in the bundle they like.

Now You See It, Now You Don't

We decided to use a sliding shopping cart for this eCommerce store, so the user can always see what they added without the need of going to a shopping cart page and then going back to the store. It's easier, faster, and more intuitive for the user who hates having to go to another page, just to come back and lose all your scrolling progress.

Quiz

Experts always know what they need in order to get better, but what if you're just learning? This is why we decided to create a simple quiz that asks the user what are their shortcomings, and as a result, it'll show you the bundle that is most appropriate to improve your game, perfect way to incentivize the customer to buy more than one product.
